E3 is now back to its glorious, overcrowded, chaotic best. The ultimate event that’s much better to view from home than attend, here are the five games that we think will come out as the big winners of E3 2011.
These are just our personal picks, feel free to disagree!
5. Battlefield 3
With EA talking seriously about challenging Activision’s COD/MW series, producing a major title with PC as the lead platform and releasing a brilliant series of promo videos, hopes are high for this. Will we finally see the successor to the still-unmatched Battlefiled 2, or simply another MW clone with a lacklustre campaign.
4. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine
The 40k franchise has a rabid fanbase, but the license has failed as often as its succeeded in videogame form. At the moment this title looks like the first that will portray the grim darkness of the 41st millenium as well as the fans have always hoped.
3. Dead Island
We have all pored over the trailer in intimate detail, but its now down to the game itself to deliver on the promises made by its stunning cinematic promotional video. If its of the same standard, this could be a show-stopper.
2. Batman: Arkham City
The first game was such an unexpected success from a developer with no established pedigree that its hard to know what’s coming next in the series. If they made a title that was similar in length and quality to the original we would be happy, but they seem to be thinking much bigger than that.
1. Bioshock Infinite
The buzz for Ken Levine’s increasingly stunning looking game has been building with each preview and press viewing. Those who have played describe a stunningly good looking game with some genuinely original gameplay ideas. It seems like this game can only be one of two things: a great game, or the greatest game of E3.
And we’re done here for another week. Have a great weekend everyone!
